Discovering the essence of strategic planning transformed my approach from producing lengthy reports to crafting concise, actionable plans. Initially, I submitted 50 page extensive documents that nno one read. Over time, I realized the true purpose of a strategic plan: to distill 3 to 5 key goals and the metrics to measure those goals, over the next 3 to 5 years into a simple, readable format. This realization led me to refine my output to just a few pages, highlighting crucial goals and metrics for success, agreed upon with stakeholders through a thorough, sometimes challenging process. Embracing simplicity over complexity has not only made strategic plans more accessible but significantly more effective.
